Our Organization
The National Puerto Rican Equality Coalition (NAPREC) is a 501 (c)4 Florida based nonprofit organization grassroots effort with the purpose to unite citizens from across America in Civic Action; to empower, educate and advocate for the equality of Puerto Ricans throughout the nation. End the Federal Government’s un-democratic treatment of the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico by ensuring a permanent U.S. Citizenship and achieve the consent of the governed by supporting a non partisan campaign for Statehood.
For a more Perfect Union
For more than a century the U.S. citizens residing in the territories are continuedly denied the right for a full congressional delegation and the vote for their Commander in Chief. Their treatment as second-class citizens only serve to highlight the colonial nature of the territories. Creating an imperfection in the fabric of the Union by allowing the existence of Americans who are in essence ruled without their consent.

What is H.R. 1522 To provide for the admission of the State of Puerto Rico into the Union?
It is a bill introduced by Rep. Darren Soto, Democrat from Florida and Rep. Jennifer Gonzalez, Republican from Puerto Rico. It proposes the admission of Puerto Rico as the 51st state of the Union following a federally sponsor referendum. The bill would grant equal voting right to all the U.S. citizens in Puerto Rico. It enjoys vast bipartisan support and has the backing of the Governor of Puerto Rico, Hon. Pedro Pierluisi.

Es un proyecto de ley presentado por el representante Darren Soto, demócrata de Florida y la representante Jennifer González, republicana de Puerto Rico. Propone la admisión de Puerto Rico como el estado 51 de la Unión luego de un referéndum patrocinado por el gobierno federal. El proyecto de ley otorgaría el mismo derecho de voto a todos los ciudadanos estadounidenses en Puerto Rico. Goza de un amplio apoyo bipartidista y cuenta con el respaldo del Gobernador de Puerto Rico, Hon. Pedro Pierluisi.
What happened in the Status Referendum of 2020?
On November 3rd, 2020, the residents of Puerto Rico were asked in a locally legislated referendum, should Puerto Rico be admitted immediately into the Union as a State? Around 53% of those that participated voted Yes. It represented 655,505 votes, obtaining more votes than any other elected official and wining in every district of the territory.

El 3 de noviembre de 2020, se preguntó a los residentes de Puerto Rico en un referéndum legislado localmente, ¿se debe admitir inmediatamente a Puerto Rico en la Unión como Estado? Alrededor del 53% de los que participaron votaron Sí. Representó 655.505 votos, obteniendo más votos que cualquier otro funcionario electo y ganando en todos los distritos del territorio.
